BIOGRAPHY
Libby Raab
B. 1965, Indianapolis, USA
Biography: Libby Raab is an architect and paper weaver based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to leading her architectural practice, she explores the interplay of color, texture, and pattern through photo and paper weaving. For Libby, weaving—much like architecture—is a form of spatial expression and material experimentation. Her artistic practice investigates the convergence of geometry, digital technology, and nature. By hand-weaving her own digitally altered photographs, she creates a visual dialogue between tradition and innovation, the organic and the synthetic, reality and illusion. Libby holds a BA in Psychology from DePauw University and a Bachelor of Architecture from Boston Architectural College. With over 25 years of experience in the field, she founded Libby Raab Architecture (LRA) in 2015. Her approach to both architecture and art is deeply rooted in personal connection; she believes that meaningful residential design is intimate and responsive, just as compelling artwork resonates through its tactile and analog qualities. In an increasingly digital world, Libby’s handcrafted work offers a sense of grounding and authenticity. Her pieces have been featured in multiple publications, a solo gallery exhibition, and a museum show.
